The Fatal Kiss

The fatal kiss

She had been suffering for ages

Cycling between life and death,a phoenix she was

The affair started on a cold winter night.

Prodded by the peers, with shivers running down the spine

He approached her with anxiety, with pride

There she stood with all dignity,in a world so cold

In the company of her sisters ,wrapped in gold

She was a master blend ,a class apart

She had her vices and her charms

But he was there to stay,a MAN he was

He mustered all courage and swept her in his arms

She fumbled in his fingers for a while

He felt cold from within, searching for warmth

The passion flamed, the match was struck

She glowed and simmered,a virgin she was

In his faltering hands she cried for love

He moved her to his lips,

‘Till death do us part’

The fire was burning within

the lips locked, he kissed her hard

the sparks flew across the distance

and filled his lungs and heart

shrouded in the cloud of fire and smoke

their love bloomed, the world didn’t know

she threw out her spell, enticed he was;

day in and day out they dated in secrecy

in restrooms, rooftops,lanes and subways.

But the brutal world has ways of its own

they could not stand it in front of their nose

there was no fire, but all smoke

people threw him out of “public”, a pariah he was

But true love knows no bounds

No fetters could chain them know

She continued to shower him

With love so selfless,so warm

All his worries,All the clouds of doubt

Disappeared in the rings of fire and smoke, from dusk to dawn.

So did again, he moved her to his lips

‘Till death do us part’

Romeo must die,Juliet must die

true love needs sacrifice.

He must die slowly, with her, without her

No matter how hard they try, only ashes remain

She burns herself with each kiss

And disappears in the mist of tears and pain

With a heavy heart and a lump in his throat

Words don’t come easily,what a tragedy

The world disowned them, they were on their own

But no longer could he bear her passion

She grew stronger with her demands

She wanted more time,more attention

The nectar turned to sweet poison with age

He died slowly in her arms, each day, each kiss apart

the pyre was ready, about to fire

he knew it was not going to last forever

so with the last gush of the cold breeze

he held her in his arms, the fatal blow would aid his release

So did again, he moved her to his lips

‘Till death do us part’

the world stood there

watching them die

‘what a waste,what a pity’

they let out a cry.
